The Global Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP) has announced a strategic agreement with Cathay Life Insurance Co., Ltd., which joins the organisation as a Principal Partner.
The partnership aims to address regional protection gaps and emerging financial risks across Asia through cross-sector collaboration between insurers, regulators, policymakers, and academic institutions.
Cathay Life joins a broader network that includes the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Chinese Taipei Financial Supervisory Commission, and the World Economic Forum.
Founded in 1962, Cathay Life is Taiwan’s largest insurer. As of 30 June 2026, the company serves over eight million policyholders—representing more than one-third of Taiwan’s population—and oversees more than 20 million active contracts.
Outside Taiwan, the firm operates a joint venture in mainland China and a subsidiary in Vietnam.
As a Principal Partner, Cathay Life will participate in GAIP’s working groups, joint research projects, and regional dialogue platforms.
The company plans to share data and market experience regarding population ageing, health and retirement protection, climate risk management, and technological changes.
