First-half earnings already represent more than 60% of the group’s $4.5b full-year goal.
Swiss Re is on track to meet its annual financial targets for 2026 after generating a net profit of $2.8b in the first six months of the year, up from $2.6b during the same period in 2025.
The group aims to reach a full-year net profit target of $4.5b, with its first-half earnings already representing more than 60% of that total.
Future performance is expected to be supported by solid underwriting, stable investment returns, selective risk-taking, and lower-than-budgeted losses from natural catastrophes and man-made events, according to AM Best.
Long-term business earnings are also projected to benefit from improving mortality trends. The company posted an annualised return-on-equity ratio of 22.7% for the first half of 2026.
Looking ahead, Swiss Re is set to rely on its established global presence and insurance service revenue, which stood at $43.1b in 2025, alongside geographic diversification to help navigate shifts in wider market conditions, the report said.
Credit rating agency AM Best maintained a stable outlook on Swiss Re’s financial strength and credit ratings.
The outlook reflects expectations that the company will maintain its strong balance sheet, capital reserves, and risk management approach.
The group’s financial stability continues to be backed by conservative investment management, low dependence on external risk sharing, and a low adjusted financial leverage ratio of 12.1% at year-end 2025.
