Ping An launches AI healthcare service for expats

The Shenzhen trial combines online assessment, hospital coordination and in-person patient support.

Ping An Good Doctor has launched Ping An GlobalCare, an AI-powered healthcare service designed to help expatriates access medical care in China.

The service combines real-time translation with online and in-person medical support, addressing common challenges faced by international patients, including language barriers, unfamiliar hospital procedures and fragmented services.

It is currently available for trial in Shenzhen.

Ping An GlobalCare supports real-time, two-way speech and text translation across 19 languages, including medical terminology.

International users can also register using mobile numbers from 198 countries and regions.

The service provides an end-to-end process covering online assessment, transfer by a dedicated case coordinator and in-person support at the hospital.

Ping An Good Doctor said one American user, identified as Michael, was able to complete an online consultation with real-time AI translation before being transferred to the hospital and accompanied by a case coordinator throughout his visit. The process took three hours.

The Ping An GlobalCare family doctor team has obtained membership certification under PKU Healthcare. Many of the doctors on the team come from tertiary, or 3A, hospitals in mainland China.

Ping An Good Doctor said it plans to expand its cross-border healthcare capabilities and develop Ping An’s online, in-hospital, at-home and corporate healthcare services.
