Around 520,000 participants provided at least two biomarker readings during the study period.
A two-year study tracking 2.1 million adult policyholders at Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Limited (ABHICL) has revealed that 87% maintained or improved their health status through regular biometric monitoring.
The research paper, titled Unlocking Health Trajectories: Real-World Biometric Trends from Insured Indian Populations, analysed anonymised data collected between December 2023 and December 2025.
Of the total participants, 520,000 individuals provided at least two biomarker data points across blood pressure, blood sugar (HbA1c), Body Mass Index (BMI), and cholesterol levels.
Nearly 62% of those monitored recorded measurable health improvements within 12 months, whilst 37% of high-risk individuals moved into medium- or low-risk categories over the same period.
Across specific conditions, diabetes control improved in 33% of policyholders, BMI and obesity indicators improved in 34%, blood pressure improved in 32%, and cholesterol levels improved in 17%.
Demographic analysis showed that women over 35 years recorded the strongest improvements in biometric control, whereas men over 45 years carried the highest burden of uncontrolled hypertension.
Compared to National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) national benchmarks, the monitored policyholders achieved higher control rates for diabetes at 33% versus 15% nationally, obesity at 34% versus 24%, and hypertension at 32% versus 24%.
