The insurer reported a 12.2% share of the Philippine market.
FWD Philippines saw its new business annual premium equivalent (NBAPE) in the second quarter of 2026 jump 23.5% year-on-year (YoY) to $85m (P5.3b).
The insurer said it now has a 12.2% market share. FWD Philippines president and chief executive officer Soon Liang Lau said the company’s continued market leadership reflected customer demand for its insurance products.
“Remaining number one means much more than leading the market,” Lau said, adding that the company would continue working to make insurance simpler and more accessible.
FWD entered the Philippine market in 2014 and has expanded through its agency network, exclusive bancassurance partnership with Security Bank and digital channels.
The Philippines’ insurance penetration climbed 0.16 percentage points in the second quarter of the year (Q2 2026).
Insurance penetration in the Philippines rose to 1.96% in Q2 2026 as insurance companies recorded higher premium collections.
Insurance penetration measures total insurance premiums collected as a share of gross domestic product (GDP).
The life insurance sector accounted for most of the increase, with premium collections rising to $3.7b (P229.98b) from $3.2b (P195.05b).
The growth was driven largely by variable life insurance products. Non-life insurers also recorded higher premium collections, which rose to $716.1m (P44.19b) from $651.0m (P40.18b) over the same period.
