Global insurance market to hit $20t by 2035t

Asia-Pacific is expected to post the highest incremental premium growth through 2035.

The global insurance industry is set to expand to $19.8t by 2035, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.6% from 2026, according to analysis by Maximise Market Research. The sector was valued at $9.5t in 2025.

From a regional perspective, Asia-Pacific is expected to post the highest incremental premium growth through 2035.

Expanding insurance penetration, economic growth, and regulatory changes in markets such as China, India, Japan, and South Korea are driving regional activity alongside established markets in North America, Europe, South America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Revenue across the global industry is expected to hit $11t by 2027 and $13.7t by 2030, representing an overall increase of $10.2t over the ten-year period.

Market demand continues to rise across life, health, property and casualty, and reinsurance sectors. Key factors behind this growth include escalating healthcare costs, an ageing global demographic, climate risks, cyber vulnerabilities, and increased demand for pension and retirement coverage.

Operational efficiency is also improving through the adoption of new technologies. Automated claims management, artificial intelligence in underwriting, digital distribution channels, and embedded insurance products are helping insurers lower costs and expand their customer base across individuals, businesses, and public sector organizations.

Life insurance formed a substantial share of total market valuation in 2025, driven by demand for term policies, annuities, and retirement planning.
