MSIG extends fire cover to over 300 Orang Asli homes

The partnership has supported families through insurance protection since 2018.

MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd has continued its partnership with EPIC Homes to provide fire insurance protection for homes built for Orang Asli families, supporting more than 300 homes since the collaboration began in 2018.

The insurer, Malaysia’s third-largest fire insurer, said the coverage is intended to help families manage the financial impact of unforeseen incidents and support recovery following damage to their homes.

In 2026, MSIG Malaysia supported the construction of two homes for Orang Asli families in Simpang Pulai.

A total of 31 employees, including chief executive officer Ang Yien Chia, worked with EPIC Homes volunteers over three days to complete the first home in July. Another 25 employees took part in the second build in September.

Ang said the insurance protection had already helped a family recover after a storm damaged a covered home in 2025, with the claim helping to fund repairs.

“This reinforces the important role insurance can play in helping families recover more quickly and protecting the homes they have worked so hard to build,” she said.

As of August 2026, MSIG Malaysia had contributed towards the protection of more than 300 homes through its partnership with EPIC Homes.

The collaboration combines housing support with fire insurance coverage for Orang Asli families.

John-Son Oei, founder and CEO of EPIC Homes, said the insurance coverage provided families with greater financial security beyond the construction of their homes.
